FirstSteps exists because of the people who show up every day for the children in our classrooms. Our team brings together educators, researchers, and practitioners who share a single conviction: that every child, understood well and taught well, will learn.

Our Teaching and Learning Team
The teachers at FirstSteps are the foundation of everything we do. Every teacher on our team has been trained in inclusive early childhood education, structured literacy instruction (systematic phonics, guided reading, formative assessment), and differentiated classroom management.
We do not hire teachers and hope they will figure it out. We invest in their development before they enter the classroom and continuously throughout their time with us. Teachers participate in regular professional learning, classroom observation cycles, and collaborative planning sessions. They are supported, challenged, and trusted to do the most important work there is: helping our children learn.
