FirstSteps is a model of how foundational education should work: structured instruction, trained teachers, responsive assessment, and a genuine commitment to reaching every learner with individualized education plan.

Most schools attempt one of these. We built FirstSteps around all three.
What Makes
FirstSteps Different
Understanding how each child learns is central to how we teach.
Structured Foundational Learning
We do not leave reading and mathematics to chance. Our literacy programme follows a systematic, research informed sequence: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
Our numeracy programme builds number sense, reasoning, and problem solving through concrete, pictorial, and abstract stages. Every child progresses through a clear learning pathway, and every teacher knows exactly where each student stands.

Early Understanding
Our teachers observe how each child learns during everyday classroom activities. We watch for patterns: what sparks curiosity, what causes frustration, when a child needs support, and when they need space. This understanding informs us of everything we do, and it begins on day one.
Individualized Learning Plan
When children need extra support, we create thoughtful, structured learning plans tailored to each child’s pace and needs, in close partnership with their families.
Trained Inclusive Educators
Our teachers are trained in inclusive early childhood education and structured literacy instruction. They know how to deliver systematic phonics, manage mixed ability classrooms with confidence, and recognize early indicators of learning difficulties before they become barriers.
